After winning the 1998 Mercury Music Prize for “Most Innovative Album of the Year,” this five-piece band continues to amaze the world with their latest disc, In Our Gun. With their distinctively British blend of folk, blues, electronica and rock, Gomez provides an easy-listen, with catchy tunes and smooth percussion. Props to frontman Ben Ottewell who leads the group with his unique style of vocals. One cannot help but wonder how a band in their early 20’s can play and manipulate their instruments so well.
In Our Gun is definitely the best display of their diversity to date, jumping from fairly edgy tracks to surprisingly traditional songs with no regrets. Like many of their fellow Brits who are famous in England but fail to emerge in the American Market, Gomez is truly under-rated.
