Inches from the Mainline

By Mike Carron

In the tradition of Korn, Slipknot and Dope comes a band that does not compare to any of these talented bands. Slaves On Dope are mediocre at best. Their album Inches From The Mainline seems more like an attempt to shock than to entertain. The young girl at the demented doctor’s office on the cover is just a glimpse of how the rest of the CD will be. The band wants to be hardcore but their attempts are comical at best.

Another losing point for the band is vocalist Jason Rockman’s poor attempt at a heavy-metal growl. When Rockman is singing normally the band comes off as a heavy Faith No More and does not sound that bad. Unfortunately, these moments are few and far between. Rockman spends so much time growling through the lyrics that when he actually sings it takes away from the song because it finally sounds good for a change.
