Campus Security is reporting the body of Michael Lewis was found in the Bow River on Monday March 7. Link to Campus Security.
The ongoing search for University of Calgary student Michael Charles Lewis has not yet yielded any fresh results.
Lewis, a master's student studying political science, has not been seen since February 4, 2005.
Police released a statement asking for the public's assistance in locating Lewis. On Saturday February 19, police officers, along with search and rescue volunteers scoured the Bow River and various routes Lewis may have taken from Mewata Armoury, where he was last known to be. Though no trace was found, foul play is not suspected.
"There's nothing new to report," admitted Detective Ryan Dobson. "We conducted a search of the area, and we are currently going through tips from [CrimeStoppers] but it's been very limited."
Mother Maria Lewis had flown in from her home in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador to meet with police.
"We're holding on," said Mrs. Lewis softly, back in St. John's. "There a lot of family and friends helping us through this, and a strong faith in God that keeps us."
Lewis' friends are also holding on.
"I don't know what else to do," said Christopher Northcott, a close friend, and the initiator of the search for Lewis. "I'm going to put some more posters up. The police are doing the best they can, but I just don't know what to think anymore."
"Please, if anyone has information about Michael, if anyone saw him, please contact the police," Mrs. Lewis reinforced. "It's very important."
