Michael Buble transports the music of jazz lounges to a modern audience. On his fourth studio album Crazy Love Buble — most known for his powerful voice and new twist on the old big band style — proves that he deserves his reputation.
Some of the songs are dramatic, like opening track “Cry me a River” which, with its operatic instrumentals and lyricxxxxxxxxxxx4fft3s, would not be out of place as the opening song to a James Bond movie.
On “Haven’t Met You Yet” Buble’s voice rings out confidently, accented by guitar and piano in all the right places.
Crazy Love features a number of covers alongside Buble originals. One is a cover of the Eagles “Heartache Tonight.” Buble takes this classic rock song and gives it a poppy jazz twist. He makes it his own, while keeping everything that is good about the song. Buble also covers “Georgia on my Mind” by Ray Charles, which he adapts to his smooth vocal style.
Crazy Love is one of Buble’s most stylistically varied albums so far. He demonstrates that he can handle different styles, keep listeners engaged and show a playful side. It feels like Buble is enjoying every note he sings.
