Women’s Team Also Goes to BC!

In a cross-province trip over this past weekend, the women soccersaurs went 1-0-1, dropping two spots to seventh in the national rankings.

Fri., Sept. 15 saw the Dinos march into Abbotsford and steal a 2-0 victory from the University College of Fraser Valley Cascades. The Dinos scored in the 43rd and the 65th minute by veterans Stephanie Hoogveld and Katie Blundell.

Sat., Sept. 16 found the Dinos in Langley taking on the Trinity Western University Spartans.

Rookie striker Morena Ianniello put the Dinos ahead 1-0 in the 59th minute on a breakaway off a through-pass by midfield Lindsay Burrowes. But an own-goal by the Dinos in the 86th minute forced a draw, and a single point for both teams.

The Dinos finally get a home game next weekend after five straight on the road when the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns come to town Sun., Sept. 24. However, the two teams must first play in Lethbridge.

The Pronghorns have started the season with no wins and four losses including an embarrassing 6-0 loss to the Spartans. In total, the Horns have been outscored 11-1.

The Dinos hit the field Sun., Sept. 24 on the West Varsity Pitch at noon. Tickets are free with a student ID.
