This is what we call the Moppett showPDF files may take a moment to load

With the season over, it will be hard to forget what a season this fourth-year Dino has had.

For Amanda Moppett, it was a season of highs and lows, and at the same time it was a year of recognition. Though it may seem like it was a year of nominations for this superstar, Moppett has nothing to be ashamed of.

So one day, this Newfie decides to make a trek across Canada. As she makes her way through Saskatchewan, she suddenly stops her car. The Newfie couldn't believe her eyes--there was a person sitting in a boat in the middle of a wheat field pretending to row.

Laval again?PDF files may take a moment to load

I think our regular volleyball writer is in Holland and I have this strange feeling he's not handing in a story this week...

Anyhow, on to men's volleyball. Who knew the Dinos would enter the final weekend of 2002/2003 season seeded sixth? Who knew they'd make it to the National Championships at all?

Another shot at redemptionPDF files may take a moment to load

With a third shot at a Canada West title on the line, the Dinos' women's volleyball team failed to deliver. Fortunately for the Dinos there were some positives to the whole experience.

The Dinos have now jumped into a second place tie with the Laval Universite Rouge et Or in the national rankings, which gives them the second seed at nationals. They will begin the tournament against the University of Toronto.

Dinos return annoyed and bitter; an interview with the RevolutionPDF files may take a moment to load

Dinos Senior Swinger Andy "the Reverend Revolution" Holland and I were "messenging" each other on MSN this morning, so I seized the opportunity for a candid interview now that the Dinosours have returned from desolate, distant Saskatoon, where they lost their first-round playoff matches 3-0, 3-1 over the weekend.

Lady Dinos on their way to nationalsPDF files may take a moment to load

The lady Dinos secured a spot in the CIS Women's Volleyball Nationals this weekend by defeating the Winnipeg Wesmen in two straight games during their best of three series. The team now advances to the final four Canada West Conference Championships hosted by the U of A Pandas this weekend. The Dinos will take on the number two seed UBC Thunderbirds in the first round--and if they can take the thunder away from UBC they will advance to the finals, and have the possibility of bringing home their third consecutive Canada West title.

Setting up for successPDF files may take a moment to load

Ranked fourth in the country and going for their third consecutive Canada West title, these lady Dinos have a lot to live up to.

So what is it going to take in order for Calgary to reach the same level of success (second in the nation) seen in years past? It would be tough to say all it will take is the same regiment and strategy as last season, seeing that the Dinos have lost familiar faces and have a 12-6 record that is all too unfamiliar, due in part to little glitches with this year's squad.

Dinos make a comebackPDF files may take a moment to load

This week, I have a few questions, and a few things I need to clarify on my own behalf. First of all, how is it that when two teams have the same amount of points overall, the team with the better record loses the tie-breaker? Oh well, sucks to be Trinity Western, I guess.

Who's your favourite Dino? Alfalfa? Or...PDF files may take a moment to load

The men's volleyball team won itself a berth in the Canada West playoffs by beating Winnipeg 3-2, 3-1 in Winnipeg over the weekend. Now tied for fourth place with rival Trinity Western University, the "battle of the splitters" will be revisited this weekend in Langley, and if the Dinos can win both (they've actually strung together consecutive wins two weekends in a row!), they will likely be guaranteed a berth at nationals by virtue of ranking.
