The Dinos women's volleyball team closed the first half of the 2004/2005 season with a bang Nov. 26-27, defeating the University of Saskatchewan Huskies 3-0 two nights in a row. Friday night, the Dinos didn't give the Huskies a chance, coming out in full force to win the first set 25-10.

"We felt right at home at the PAC," commented power Janelle Findlay about playing at the U of S gym, where the Dinos won the National Championship in March, 2004.

Everyone knew the Dinos men's volleyball team had little hope to win against the #2 University of Manitoba Bisons--especially considering the Dinos' less than stellar record thus far. However, it still would have been nice to chalk up at least one game in the win column.

Take solace in the fact that the Dinos are still #10 in the nation, and the Bisons are the defending CIS national champions--but hey, that's loser talk.

Another weekend, another sweep--this team is finally getting rolling.

After struggling with consistency in the first half of the season, the #1 ranked Dinos women's volleyball team is playing with a little attitude, playing like they know they're the best.

After two hard games against the University of Alberta Golden Bears last weekend, the Dinos men's volleyball team looked poised to break out of their early season slump, hoping to beat up on the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds Nov. 15-16. They split the weekend, but still showed they are ready to compete in a talent-laden Canada West conference.

I thought corporal punishment had been outlawed in Canada. You can imagine my surprise, then, when the University of Calgary hosted a public beating at the Jack Simpson Gymnasium Nov. 14-15.

The Dinos women's volleyball team, ranked atop the nation all year, hadn't truly dominated an opponent thus far--until the Simon Fraser University Clan rolled into town, that is.

The battle of Alberta continued its long tradition Nov. 7-8 as the Dinos opened their season losing a doubleheader against the University of Alberta Golden Bears.

Friday night saw the Bears have their way with the Dinos in a three-game romp. The Dinos battled hard in the opening game, showing their practice and preparation paid off. Alberta only led by one point during the break, 16-15, with the Dinos looking to finish them off after tying the game 20-20 late in the game.

There was a little girl, who had a little curl right in the middle of her forehead and when she was good, she was very, very good, but when she was bad she was horrid.

That about sums it up.

The Dinos women's volleyball team stormed onto the court Thu., Oct. 23, confidently trouncing the University of Alberta Pandas in three straight sets (25-21, 25-17, 25-22).

Dino Cup filled with failurePDF files may take a moment to load

Four teams, three days, one winner.

Another Husky Dino Cup has come and gone, and with it a multitude of "what ifs," inevitable words of frustration and the gut-wrenching sensation you get when things don't go your way.

The 17th annual Dino Cup was promising, but ended in utter failure for the Dinos men's volleyball team, who dropped four in a row against three of North America's best university level teams.

The women's volleyball team is by far one of the most fun on campus. Over the past few years they've had great chemistry and a great group of people. So when a crop of new players comes in, Head Coach Kevin Boyles pays special attention to that chemistry.

Well, the early reviews are in-good work Kevin.

Women volleysaurs to host the nationPDF files may take a moment to load

In a few years, the Jack Simpson Gymnasium will be hallowed ground. In both 2006 and 2007, the best of the best in Canadian university women's volleyball will set their sights on the University of Calgary, as we have been awarded the Canadian Interuniversity Sport Women's Volleyball Championships for both years.

Hosting the competition brings more than just prestige, as the Dinos squad also receives an automatic bid in both tournaments.
