There have been a number of changes to the Young Offenders Act proposed by Liberal Justice Minister Anne McLellan. Some of them are good. Giving judges more options in sentencing is an example of this. It seems reasonable that judges know better than lawmakers what is the most appropriate punishment for those who have broken the law. The proposed legislation has some serious problems, though-like that the majority of the planned changes are awful.

After a first-place finish at the Canada West Universities Athletic Association championship, the Dinosaurs were hoping to claim a spot on the podium last weekend at McGill University.

Mar. 4, the Carleton University Ravens were eliminated. Not from the playoffs, but forever.

The final decision was left up to Carleton President Richard Van Loon after recommendations from the athletic board, the athletic director and the senior management committee. Carleton students had an indirect say in the matter when an $11.31 increase in the athletic feealready a hefty $138was voted down by a 21 margin.
