Two Dinos ladies placed among the top eight scorers in the Alberta Collegiate
Athletics Conference: Melissa Barcelous and Tara Hammer. Goaltender Tonya Young
was named Most Valuable Player in the ACAC this year, probably helped by her incredible
role in getting the Dinos to the ACAC finals.

Coaching
Head Coach Julie Healy took this team and brought the best out of them when

'Victims of global imperialism' best summed up the University of Calgary women's hockey team as they entered game three of a best-of-five battle royale against the Mount Royal College Cougars Fri., Mar. 5. The previous weekend saw the Dinos fall handily to the Bourgeois Cougars in the first two games of the series.

"As soon as we stepped into the playoffs, we played our best hockey," reflected Head Coach Julie Healy.

They aren't comparing themselves to the 1991 Minnesota North Stars or the 2003 Anaheim Mighty Ducks, but anyone on the outside looking in can't help but see the same never-say-die attitude.

The Dinos women's hockey team snuck into the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference playoffs by the skin of their teeth, a mere two points separating them from the fifth place NAIT Ookpiks.

Their reward? A date with the 16-1-2-1 Grant MacEwan College Griffins, a perennial ACAC powerhouse.

If it looks like first-year Dinos women's hockey Head Coach Kevin Brost has an extra jump in his step as the hockey season draws near, it may be for good reason. When talking to Brost about the upcoming hockey season his views are definitely optimistic. 

At this time last season the women's hockey team was having trouble finding enough players to fill the roster; at this time there are already 45 trying out to make the squad. Each player is eager to light it up and catch one of the 19 spots on the team.
