The Dinos suffered a heart-breaking loss Fri., Mar. 4 to put them down 1-0 in their three-game playoff series against the University of Alberta Golden Bears, and were unable to push the series to three. Sat., Mar. 5 they fell apart, losing 7-1 and destroying any opportunity to move on to the final round of the Canada West playoffs. However, all is not lost for the Dinos. If they defeat the University of Manitoba Bisons Mar. 11-13, they can claim third place in CW and still go on to nationals.

The unique experience of helping a team grow and mature, only to see years of hard work go relatively unrewarded is a sad truth for a handful of fifth-year Dinos this spring. After falling yet again to the Golden Bears from Edmonton, the burning reality that their university careers had come to a screeching halt was an unkind reality for seven members of the 2003-2004 Dinos men's hockey team--like a sharp fire poker in the ass.

If the 25 minute intermissions and snail speed zamboni were any indication of the excitement of the Dinos men's hockey team's matchup with the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds Feb. 20-21, what few fans were at the games would have surely stayed home.

Fortunately for the die-hards in attendance, the slow start to the weekend snowballed into a rock solid effort, punctuated by the token shot to the junk of their opponents.

Seeing that the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns couldn't play nice Feb. 6-7, the hockeysaurs made them sorry they even played at all.

The Dinos rolled into the barn in Lethbridge on Friday night and, much to the disappointment of the antelope loving yokels in attendance, the Dinos laid tracks back to Calgary with a 4-2 win in tow.
