Advanced Education Minister David Hancock was on campus this week to announce millions in new capital funding for the University of Calgary.

The $25.3 million announcement includes $16 million for the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and $4 million toward planning the Campus Calgary Digital Library, the Institute for Sustainable Energy, Environment and Economy, the Urban Campus and a new Experiential Learning Centre.

As part of the next phase of its advanced education review, the provincial government is asking Albertans what they think about the province's post-secondary system.

The A Learning Alberta steering committee has made its policy framework available online and is asking Albertans to submit suggestions on its website. Also, a series of invitation-only regional stakeholder meetings are planned throughout the province in the coming weeks.

University of Calgary students can cut their current cell phone bill in half, thanks to a new deal between the Students' Union and Bell Mobility.

In return for exclusive rights to cell phone sales in MacEwan Student Centre for three years, Bell will offer students cell phones at a rate of $22.50 per month for 200 minutes of air time, based on a one year contract.
