Approximately 54 per cent of eligible voters in the United States will go to the polls Thur., Nov.7 to determine the fate of the U.S. Congress, including many University of Calgary students with American citizenship.

Due to U.S. President George W. Bush's all-time low approval rating--currently sitting at about 32 per cent--some look to the upcoming election as an opportunity for the Democrats to regain control of Congress for the first time in 12 years.

It's almost census time again, but the government isn't asking the questions this time around.

Editor, the Gauntlet, [Re: "Maclean's wrong?" Letter, Sept. 21, 2006]

So let's see if I've got this right: Roman Cooney is criticizing Maclean's for conducting a survey of U of C graduates, despite the fact that Maclean's never conducted a survey of U of C graduates. The logic is iron clad.

The Rest of the West

[Predicted 9th] Dallas Stars

Last year's Pacific Division champs didn't really make many moves other than adding Mike Ribeiro. Unfortunately, the Sharks and Ducks made big moves to improve. Look for the Stars to miss the playoffs for the first time since 2002.

[Predicted 10th] Vancouver Canucks
