Sitting nicely in sixth spot in the country, the lady Dinos have been desperate to go through a weekend series proving they belong in that spot. It hasn’t been easy so far.

Coming into a weekend set with the Manitoba Bison, Calgary had yet to sweep a weekend series. This time things would be different. The Bisons were a dismal 2–8 coming into this showdown and Dinos Head Coach Shawnee Harle was looking for a good showing to boost team confidence as they head into the home stretch of the regular season.

The Dinos were hot this weekend, tearing the Bison apart with blistering offence. Manitoba proved to be no match for the visiting squad as the Dinos took home two easy decisions of 76–62 and 100–82 respectively. On Friday, guard Jen Goldade led the team in scoring with 20 followed by Anna Bekkering. She chipped in 16 points in addition to her eight boards. Bekkering paced the Dinos on Saturday with a career game-she posted 28 points, 15 boards, and five assists.

The wins catapulted Calgary back up to the .500 mark for the first time in a month at 6–6. The Dinos hope to continue their winning ways as they host the University of Saskatchewan Jan. 18–19. The game starts at 6:30 p.m., followed by the men’s game.
