Hank Williams iii

By Lawrence Bailey

How can anyone not have a toe-tappin’ good time when Hank III is belting out his sweet brand of comfort country on Lovesick, Broke & Driftin’. From the off key, twangy wailing right down to the slide guitar solos, this is what country was meant to be.

The classic story telling is evident on ballads like "Cecil Brown," while "Whiskey, Weed and Women" is a glorious reminder that while the music might take some back to the ’30s, Hank III doesn’t operate within the taboos of a bygone era.
