Dinos dig for a single win

By Nicole Kobie

When I was much younger, my sister and cousin wasted an entire Saturday tying at NBA Jam. Right as the buzzer was about to go in the two-minute match, one or the other would mess up, so the other could tie, and the game could keep going.

The UBC Thunderbirds and our Dinos appeared to have a similar deal set up as they rallied back and forth in five marathon sets on Saturday. Though UBC eventually took the match 3-2, all it took to end the rallies was two hours of Sally-go-get it play and net serves.

Maybe UBC was getting revenge for their 3-1 loss Friday. Maybe they bothered to watch their game tape and fixed their mistakes. Or, maybe, they just took advantage of the Dinos’ poor play.

Either way, for such close sets, the play was so error filled–on both sides of the net–that it’s a wonder it wasn’t on purpose.
