Manic Street Preachers, Forever Delayed: The Greatest Hits

By Myke Atkinson

I’ve never understood how British groups are always able to choose the best songs for their albums, while North American groups just choose the shittiest radio-friendly three-minute ditties.

Forever Delayed, the Manic Street Preachers’ new greatest hits album, is loaded from start to finish with some of the band’s truly greatest songs. Everything from number one hits as “If You Tolerate This, Your Children Will Be Next,” to the personal favourite “La Tristesse Durera (Scream to Sigh)” grace the 20 track disc. Two new songs are added to the mix, and a limited number of special edition copies contain a CD of Manic songs remixed by such stars as Massive Attack, The Chemical Brothers and Mogwai. A good introduction to one of the best Brit-pop bands to date, Forever Delayed will likely be the best greatest hits compilation released just in time for that last-minute Christmas gift.
