Blumell wins scholarship

Dinos quarterback Lincoln Blumell continued his impressive off season and captured the prestigious TSN Russ Jackson Award for outstanding athletic, academic and community achievement.

“He’s been exemplary in all three areas,” said Dinos Head Coach Tony Fasano. “He’s just a great example of what university sport is all about.”

Blumell played his sixth and final season with the Dinos in 2002, and led the team with 2033 passing yards and 12 touchdowns. He is set to complete his graduate degree in religious studies with a 4.00 GPA in June 2003 and his involvement in the community ranges from talks at local schools to Scouts Canada.

“Knowing Lincoln, a perfect cap to his career as a Dino would have been a Vanier Cup ring,” said Fasano. “He’s never one to dwell on individual awards, but this should make him very proud.”

The TSN Russ Jackson Award also brings Blumell a $3,000 scholarship, a worthwhile prize since he’s on his way to doctoral studies.
