Manic Street Preachers

By Ashley Martin

Having never listened to any Manic Street Preachers before, I’m not sure if this is their version of a “greatest hits” disc or not. I just popped it in my discman and this is what I think.

The tracks on this disc fit into so many categories, but Manic Street Preachers seem to layer different rock styles together well enough that they might have developed a new sub-genre: edgy, socialist, British college radio with a horn section. The album is actually two discs and has some live songs on it as well.

All in all, the songs are enjoyable to listen to while driving or just hanging out. And if political rock is not your scene, don’t worry, you can hardly make out what they’re saying most of the time anyway.
