Students seeking more on-line enlightenment about this year’s election now have some more choices.
In addition to the official platforms released on individual party sites, both the Canadian Alliance of Student Associations and the Canadian Federation of Students, Canada’s two national post-secondary education lobby groups, have set up web sites for Election 2004. CASA’s site, called Think Education, is at www.thinkeducation.ca, while the CFS site is at www.voteeducation.ca.
Maple Leaf Web (www.mapleleafweb.com), based at the University of Lethbridge, features background information and discussions about current election topics. Their Election Report Cards are compiled by five academic commentators from across Canada, including the University of Calgary’s Associate Professor of Political Science Lisa Young.
‘Farries runs the non-partisan web site with a team of four writers: two PhDs, a professional writer from Calgary, and a research intern. They hope to have critical reviews of all the major party web sites online this weekend.
