Stuck on repeat

By Andrea Poupart

The Dinos women’s hockey team had a rough weekend to say the least. They took on the sait Trojans Jan. 20–21 and it was ouch.

On Friday night the Trojans were all over the Dinos like a fat kid on a smartie. With leading scorers Michelle Glendining, Nicole Goulet and Jaime Teichman firing shots all night, Dino goalies Natalie Gerstmar and Katie Urness didn’t have much of a chance.

Midway through the second period things started to look up for the Dinos when rookie Felicia Fletcher scored her first Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference goal, putting the Dinos on the board at 3–1. However, the ladies couldn’t catch the first-placed Trojans, who scored three more goals for a 6–1 win.

Saturday night brought more of the same. The Dinos were outshot 32–20 in the game. Although they came out strong in the first period, holding the Trojans’ lead to 1–0, they gave up five unanswered goals in the following 40 minutes.

The Dinos face the Mount Royal College Cougars Fri., Jan. 27 at 7:30 p.m. in the Max Bell Arena and again at 8:30 p.m. Sat., Jan. 28 at Centennial Arena.
