It's one week later and still no volunteers. My attempt at seducing potential writers to the "sports side" was admittedly weak, but hey, can't blame a boy for trying. So for lack of anything better to do, here is a quick and dirty update from my inbox.

The Olympic Oval is searching for its next Olympic idol by hosting a Talent Identification Camp on Aug. 8 and 9, enticing people with the question: "So you want to be the next Olympic idol?"

A University of Calgary student may have to pay for damages himself after a fire in his on-campus home.

After the July 24, 2003 fire in family housing, the student tried to make a claim. However his insurance company stated he did not have home insurance, leaving the student to pay for damages to the university--something his tight budget would not allow.

  Potential strike at U of T bookstoresPDF files may take a moment to load

Union members with the University of Toronto Press Inc., could strike if they do not reach an agreement, thus shutting bookstores down to students.

"The last thing we want is a shutdown just when students need the bookstores most," said CUPE Local 3261 President Mehdi Kouhestaninejad. "But our wages have not kept pace with inflation over the past ten years, and we need a fair settlement to avoid a strike."

Business will apparently increase due to the double cohort graduating from Ontario high schools.
