Fall flicks hit the silver screenPDF files may take a moment to load

The early fall season is sort of a thankless time for movies, being wedged in between summer blockbuster season and the award-worthy movie season in December. Like January, early fall is the time when a lot of studio afterthoughts are put out, and a time where low-quality fare might actually get some notice and make a buck, for example obviously horrible kiddie-fare such as Beverly Hills Chihuahua, coming out Oct. 3, and the money-making machine that is the third installment of the High School Musical franchise set for Oct. 24.

Frontman Nik Kozub and Shout Out Out Out Out should start up a synthesizer fan club. The T-shirts they sell at their shows feature a picture of their practice space, nine different kinds of keyboards kicking around in a mess of pedals and drum kits interspersed between the numerous pianos.

Sometimes it seems young children are all budding artists, composers and writers. Somewhere along the line, most lose their affinity for creativity. Growing up and maturing is almost synonymous with stagnating imaginations. Probably around the same time, most stop relating to people freely and get a bit jaded about the human condition. Over the past seven years, though, hundreds of strangers defied these norms and joined together in the ultimate display of unique thought and solidarity.

In native mythology, thunderbirds are considered supernatural animals of power and strength.

Unfortunately, the University of Calgary Dinos field hockey team have 10 reasons to believe that to be true, after the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds outscored the Dinos 10-0 in two games in stormy weather in B.C. Despite the disappointment, Dinos coach Jenn Swagar remains positive about the team's potential, pointing out how they are learning from their mistakes.

For most Calgarians, a trip to the west coast of Canada is a rewarding experience. For the University of Calgary women's soccer team, it was disastrous. The lady Dinos lost 2-0 to the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds and followed up with a 3-1 loss to the University of Victoria Vikes. The Dinos lacked offensive punch and defensive solidity in the losses.

Footballers let sloppy game slip awayPDF files may take a moment to load

The Dinos football team was soaked in misery by the Simon Fraser University Clan, losing 20-3 on a wet, soggy, moisture-laden day in Burnaby, B.C.

When the final whistle was blown the Dinos showed that they lacked offensive finish and could not put points on the board.

The loss propelled the Dinos to a 2-2 record and a four-way tie for second place in the Canada West standings, while Simon Fraser took sole possession of first place at 3-1.

SU View: Got (affordable) housing?PDF files may take a moment to load

I hope that everyone reading this is living in safe, affordable housing now that we are back to school. Unfortunately, not every student has access to this basic necessity. The government needs to recognize and act to address the unique housing needs of students.

There are several groups in our society including seniors, persons with disabilities and low income families, that have been identified as "at risk" for not having safe and affordable accommodations. Students are also at risk.

Threesomes: part deuxPDF files may take a moment to load

The last time we got together I wrote more for male readers and discussed the two women, one man combination of threesomes. Now I would like to help out the women and look at another variation of this three person sexual escapade. This brings us to the two men, one woman combination and, for lengths sake, we will paint the picture with an existing couple and a male invitee-- if you are a woman who enjoys being the centre of sexual attention this may be for you.
