Paul Westerberg, Stereo

By Anna Chan

The majority of this album resembles what you might hear playing in the background of an episode of Dawson’s Creek. Stereo’s slow tempo and mellow soundings are sure to ease a hyper-active child or make the calm extremely drowsy.

The tracks are a simple combination of an acoustic guitar and Paul Westerberg’s raspy voice. Initially repetitive, the album gradually incorporates diverse instruments that gets the listener swaying to a quicker beat. Stereo contains many extraneous noises, flat notes and tracks that end abruptly, all purposely left in. This adds a touch of humour to Westerberg, making the album fairly entertaining and amusing. Depending on what you prefer, this album will either put you in a relaxing mood or put you to sleep.
