VP Events: Events stayed the course

Irene Enyedy’s term as VP events was characterised by extremes. Events such as the recent tuition battle and Overflow in September, Cinemania, and her work with residence students were great successes, while things like Blue Banana Lounge, a proposed Dinos week, and Bitter Ball went away virtually unnoticed. As probably the second-most visible SU executive member behind Stambaugh, Enyedy was a very good interface between the Students’ Union and students, especially those with artistic inclination.

Perhaps her largest point of weakness was her lack of time and resources to devote to projects beyond those normally expected of the VP events. This is, however, likely due to a group of events commissioners with strong interests outside of the events portfolio.

Enyedy’s final challenge will be to ensure the smooth operation of BSD. After successfully handling numerous successful events and Den safety and security issues throughout her term, one final go with 3,000 students should be easy.
