U of C scores solid concrete victory

By Вen Li

A team of University of Calgary engineers returned victorious this weekend from the Great Northern Concrete Toboggan Race. The team placed first overall in the five-day competition hosted by Carleton University in Ottawa.

"It was very stiff competition," said Project Manager Lee Martin. "We’ve been working on it since September."

In addition to placing first overall, the western-themed U of C Chuckboggan team, which consisted of 27 students, also took first for Best Costumes, Best Technical Exhibit and Most Improved Team.

"Technically we did well because we had great team chemistry and spirit," added Martin.

The U of C team last won the GNCTR in 2000.
