Spun: Bryan Lee

Publication YearIssue Date

New Orleans-based bluesman Bryan Lee's 11th solo recording is a swinging mix of original blues tunes and carefully chosen covers. Lee, known as 'The Braille Blues Daddy,' proves his unique guitar and vocal prowess are fully intact. His well rounded band delivers the goods with gusto and charm. Most notable are the soulful sax solos and David Maxwell's lively piano playing, which add the perfect balance to Lee's Bourbon Street flavoured guitar. Although a studio recording, My Lady Don't Love My Lady has a live performance feel.

Lending their efforts to the mix are two of Lee's long-time friends. On Junior Well's "Early In The Morning," Chicago blues guitar slinger Buddy Guy lays down an articulate and blistering solo. "Let Me Up I've Had Enough" is a rollicking composition by Kenny Wayne Shepherd who adds his own fiery touches on guitar.

My Lady Don't Love My Lady is an impressive addition to Lee's catalogue and should be welcomed by modern blues aficionados everywhere.
