They got off on the wrong foot and a tough lesson followed as the Dinos winning streak came to an end last weekend.

On Fri., Jan. 25, the Dinos took on a difficult battle against the University of Alberta Pandas in Edmonton-trying hard to settle the game in their favour. A close game, there was no room for mistakes and the Dinos made some good effort to score. Fourth-year forward Anna Bekkering helped the Dinos stay in the game with 21 points, but her team couldn’t keep the Pandas from taking the tight game home 60–53.

"We played very well in 38 out of 40 minutes," said Dinos Head Coach Shawnee Harle, obviously frustrated after Friday’s tough loss. "But against a good team like this you have to play at your best 40 out of 40 minutes of the game."

Hoping they had learned their lesson, Coach Harle sent her team off into Saturday’s game against the Pandas. It soon became obvious the girls couldn’t get into the game. A possible improvement on Friday’s game soon turned into Mission Impossible. The girls seemed to be suffering from something-maybe from a night of extreme shopping at the West Edmonton Mall?

"We couldn’t get anything going," Harle criticized. The Coach was certainly unsatisfied with the game, watching Alberta improve upon their solid performance from the previous night. Despite the weaker performance in the second game, Harle believes in her team’s abilities.

"We can normally beat them because we are a very good team," she said, recalling Saturday’s 71–53 loss.

"Alberta rose up to the challenge-we didn’t."
